What's in a name? - Bob Brumley Gymnasium

Bob Brumley was the McAlester High School basketball coach for 26 years. He retired from coaching in 1977 and became a vice principal. Brumley's winning record put him in the top category in the coaching profession. He was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame in 1968. He served as a president of the Oklahoma Coaches Association and spent two years on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Coaches Association. February 18, 1997 was "Bob Brumley Day" in McAlester and Oklahoma. He retired MHS in 1986. The McAlester High School gymnasium was named after him on December 2, 1986.
